About my work

I am a clasically trained oil painter who sits somewhat tentatively in the realist school of painting. I see this as a positive as I take on board and revel in the skills of the Old Masters. But what a hackneyed expression that is! Over thirty years in the game, albeit juggling other employment, has given me the inspiration and need to require something more than realism from my artwork. After all, every brushstroke adds astraction to the mix.

My goal is to deliver a painting which engages with the viewer rather than content which can be delivered more effectively through other means. I have no specific subject specialism as this is not important in my process but I sincereley hope some of my work may resonate with you.
